    Vineyard Hotel

I'm a huge fan of the Vineyard, a beautiful and very comfortable hotel well outside of the central city. You'll pay too much in cab fare to get to downtown events, but it's frequently cheaper than downtown hotels and it's a real treat, with acres of beautiful gardens, an excellent fitness center and two very good restaurants.

    Codfather Restaurant

Must-go place in CapeTown is the Codfather restaurant. Basically it is a fishery where you can see the catches of the day. You select what you want and they cut e.g. the piece of tuna on the spot & cook it for you.

When you drive down towards south, all of the small beaches are very nice. Camps Bay is beautiful and has plenty of beautiful people and restaurants - but is maybe a bit too touristic. Llandudno is very beatiful, but remember there are no shops or cafes. Hout Bay is a charming little town with a fish harbor and a long beach. The water by the Atlantic is rather cold and waves are big. On False Bay side the water is warmer and calmer and the coast is full of nice small towns. Boulder Beach with penguins is fun, they also have a nice restaurant. Simon's Town has all kinds of little stores. Kalk Bay is my favorite, with art galleries, antiques stores, cafeterias, fish harbor and Harbor House restaurant. Still on the other side of False Bay is Strand, the best beach around, also very suitable for kids. Here you can learn surfing, too. A bit further is Gordon's Bay and small and quite Bikini Beach, good for swimming and eating lunch at the yacht club.

Once you've covered the essentials - Cape Point (also known as the Cape of Good Hope) and make sure that when you go there you see BOTH sides of the peninsula (ie Boulders Beach and Chapmans Peak / Hout Bay), Table Mountain, Robben Island, wine country (Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franschoek), and Kirstenbosch botanical gardens - then you'll definitely find interesting spots to explore in the city and pick an interest that you have and I guarantee there'll be plenty to explore within your interest area :)
