Marilyn Pratt replied over 5 years agoTry the homestay concept in Hanoi and in the Northern Mountains - Sapa
The best way to really see Hanoi is through a homestay with a local family. Ours took us on a thrilling motorbike ride through the city, to a nite walk through the market quarter, around the most beautiful temples. People appreciated practicing their language skills and we had the best meals and social interactions ever

Nam-ho Park replied over 4 years agoGo outside the terminal at Noi Bai (Hanoi) Airport to catch taxi to downtown Hanoi
There is an information desk inside the airport that offers prepaid taxis to Hanoi downtown for $35 (Oct 2008), which is a total ripoff. I think the info desk is privately owned or has a deal with a taxi company.
You should just go outside to catch a regular taxi (albeit smaller), which also run on fixed rates which are a lot more reasonable.

Louise Waring replied over 3 years agoHanoi is a charming capital.....there are many places in Hanoi to explore like, Vietnamese National History Museum. If you talk about the beauty of Hanoi then you can explore things like, UNESCO world heritage sites, high mountains, beautiful waterfalls, sunny beaches and a cluster of wonderful places. Except Hanoi there are many more place such as Cambodia, Laos, Angkor Wat, Arts & Crafts which you can explore interestingly. Am planning to visit Indochina in coming days so guys plss can you tell me more about these places and the best cruise tour options to Indochina. I also found an interesting tour. Josh Nguyen replied over 3 years agoLots to do in Hanoi. I'd start from around the Hoan Kiem Lake area and walk around. Quan An Ngon is a good restaurants popular with expats and locals. Try the local bun cha noodle dish off the streets. The water puppet show is a good breather from the heat -- but the best experience in Hanoi is in the warrens of the old city.
