    Calatrava in Milwaukee

Visit the Calatrava addition to the Milwaukee Art Museum when you visit. The Burke Brise Soleil is the building's sunscreen that open to the shape of a bird taking flight.

    Pick me up a pie........

at Tratorria di Carlo's. 5 minutes from the MKE. Incredible Italian food. My last visit to Wisconsin, we picked up pies when we arrived at MKE, and on our departure from MKE.

They cater for the Bucks, Bulls...etc. When the Cavs were playing the Bulls. Lebron sent a driver from Chicago to pick up food for the team.....It's THAT GOOD.

Milwaukee is a little bit of an undiscovered jewel. Our endemic lack of self-esteem and genetic predisposition to modesty keep it that way. But here are some facets of this jewel that would make an interesting weekend:

Lake Park on the east side. Designed by Frederic Law Olmstead, including an 18-hole pitch-and-putt course, a terrific bistro, lovely trails and delightful urban and lake vistas.

Three Brothers restaurant -- an amazing Serbian restaurant on the city's near south side: 2414 S Saint Clair St Milwaukee, WI 53207-1928 (414) 481-753

The Historic Third Ward -- just south of downtown Milwaukee, loaded with boutiques, restaurants, antique stores, galleries and night life.

Wow... I'm shocked nobody said this one thing!

Milwaukee is not all that great, but we have great food and bars!

YOU MUST MUST check out the restaurant Safe House! It's a bar/restaurant, with a whole James bond theme with secret doors, machines, hidden windows and you even can pay 25 cents to go out the secret underground tunnel. The food is not too pricey and it's really good! Try the soup! Also you need a password to get in, I won't tell you because that just adds on more fun! It is a place that is really different from anywhere I've ever been, check it out!

(by the way, it's not showing up on the map, but it's not too hard to find, you could probably ask anyone on the street, close to what I selected)

This is a wonderful neighborhood bar with excellent live music. The sound system is terrific, the atmosphere is very intimate, and the crowd is very appreciative. I saw Leon Redbone there in early October 2009 and it felt like he was playing in my living room (although my living room doesn't have the wide selection of draft beer Shank Hall does). I highly recommend checking out what's playing there during a visit to Milwaukee. It's not far from downtown and easy to get to (and in good weather might not be a bad walk from downtown, actually).
