    Best Oysters ever

Had an amazing experience at Elliott's Oyster House. They had over 20 veritials of oysters, all from the West coast and each amazingly fresh and unique. The staff are virtual encyclopedias on the subject of bivalves. Truly an oyster lovers dream spot. Shameless though it is, the URL posted is to my review, but also contains a link to Elliott's.

    Lowell's for Breakfast

You might recognize it from a certain film, but Lowell's in the Pike Place Market is a killer breakfast spot. Great view of the water, and the french toast makes me want to get it every morning I'm there.

    Best Thai food

Mae Phim on First and Columbia is small hole in the wall - definitely not much too look at, but the lines out the door should tell you there's something special there. The food is the best Thai lunch in town for only $6.00. Order the Mae Phim special with broccoli instead of onions, 3 stars and a Thai iced tea.

    Elliott's Oyster House

Can't speak to the whole menu, but Elliott's is a great place to sit at the bar and order very fresh northwest oysters (N. California to British Columbia). Get there after 3p and check out the progressive oyster happy hour. Oysters on the half shell 50 cents each at 3:00pm, price goes up until 6p.

When I think of the best pizza I've ever had, I think of two places: Pizzeria Baffetto in Rome and Serious Pie. It's that good.

Quinn's in Capitol Hill was our first gastropub in Seattle, and the food is just amazing. Their burger made it on USA Today's list of the 10 best burgers in the country, and rightfully so -- but seriously, you cannot go wrong with anything on their menu.

Speaking of burgers, there's Lunchbox Laboratory. It's a short drive from downtown up to Ballard and well worth it. It's run by a former high-end chef making what he loves, and it has a cult following. Think of incredibly customizable gourmet burgers cooked and served in something barely more than a shack, with friendly people and kitschy decor, and you're getting the idea.

My wife and I left the long line at Starbucks to get something to eat before our coffee. As we stepped outside we asked each other what the other wanted to eat, a few quick sniffs of the air around us answered that question. We found the source of the lovely aroma 2-doors down at Piroshky Piroshky. We were in Seattle for 3 days, and we ate there every one of them. The dough is buttery and delicious, the fillings are plentiful and flavorful, and the staff couldn't be happier to see each and every one of the patrons walking through their tiny little store front. If you're trolling for food in the market, stop here. Your heart may not thank you, but your tongue will.

Dinette is the most incredible place. We stumbled on it on a Sunday morning and had the most delicious food...duck-fat potatoes, frittatas, smoked salmon toast, a bread pudding that filled a dinner plate. (Luckily, there were three of us!)

If you get a chance, check out Dinette. You'll be back.
