Toni Fadnes replied 9 months agoHaving to travel to Houston a lot lately, and staying in the Galleria area, it's been a lot of sushi. This last week I decided to go fish only, and as Sage 400 had 4 new rolls on the menu, and I had 5 days to spare, that's what I did. It seems that Sage 400 is getting more crowded by the day, but they still manage to keep the service a the right level, as well as their smiling faces. To top it all off, I challenged the cooks to surprise me. And, yes, they did indeed cement the fact that they are among the more inventive Japanese kitchens around. I got what I'll call the "butterfly roll" for "dinner (a speciality by Joe), and for "dessert" I got sushi rolls with strawberry included in the roll for the first time (engineering and served by Andrew), and something by Joe that I guess you'll only find at a El Bulli or MOMA type restaurant. The best Japanese meal I've had over the past couple of years. The chefs, overseen by Kubo, are first class.
