  Pigeon Forge and the surrounding area are at once beautiful and tragically tacky. Gatlinburg is similar to all tourist traps with their fudge shops and t-shirt places, but somehow it's more than that (don't ask me to figure out what it is that makes it that way). The countryside is stunningly beautiful and the Tuckaleechee Caverns are definitely worth a spelunk. I even drank the underground stream water and lived to tell about it! We joked that it would just be a hole in someone's basement, but...well; you go and find out for yourself. And of course, Dollywood is a must. Great roller coasters and people watching.
