Calypso Cafe is without a doubt the best place for lunch on a budget. There are multiple of them scattered around the city, they're great food, inexpensive, and quite speedy, although expect a short wait if you show up exactly at noon.

Baja Burrito is a great local favorite. Be sure to order the La Tinga (Chipotle Chicken) tacos or burritos.

If you're in Brentwood, try Vittles Cafe on Franklin and Old Hickory. Also, south of Green Hills on Hillsboro Rd is a cafeteria style diner called the Daily Dish.
