Joseph R replied over 4 years agoThe Italian Market in South Philadelphia is a several-block long stretch of South 9th Street that was historically home to Italian immigrants coming to the city. Established over a hundred years ago, today the market is as much home to the old vegetable and fruit carts, butcher shops and seafood stalls as it is to new cafes, Mexican restaurants, and recently, artists looking for cheap gallery space who've been priced out of more expensive digs. There's plenty of good food to be had, from restaurants serving up traditional American-Italian food to amazingly popular brunch spots like Sabrina's. Overall this is definitely worth a stop if you're in town.

Joseph R replied over 4 years agoSouth Street has been a cool place to explore for decades. Even though tons of people have discovered it and it's gotten a little, tiny bit upscale in some small ways, it's still a fun place to visit. Some of the cooler stores have had to move off to side streets or to Bainbridge Street one block south, but it's really a whole area more than a street. It used to be that everything from Broad eastward toward the Delaware river was the main attraction, but South has now pretty much got cool things going on from river to river.

Aimée Beckwith replied over 3 years agoThe wait took about 30 minutes, and wrapped around the block. It even started to rain. However, all this just made the cheesesteak that much more delicious once we made it inside. A provolone cheesesteak and a coke later, and I couldn't have been happier! Highly recommended if you don't mind standing in line and eating the best Philly cheesesteak of your life.
