The Italian Market in South Philadelphia is a several-block long stretch of South 9th Street that was historically home to Italian immigrants coming to the city. Established over a hundred years ago, today the market is as much home to the old vegetable and fruit carts, butcher shops and seafood stalls as it is to new cafes, Mexican restaurants, and recently, artists looking for cheap gallery space who've been priced out of more expensive digs. There's plenty of good food to be had, from restaurants serving up traditional American-Italian food to amazingly popular brunch spots like Sabrina's. Overall this is definitely worth a stop if you're in town.
