Isaac replied over 4 years agoIf you like the city feel -- spend some time walking around the downtown and Pioneer Square, down to Waterfront Park. Hop on the MAX light rail, which is free in the downtown area, to get a few blocks further down to the Portland Saturday Market (9-5 Saturday AND Sunday). Or take the streetcar a few blocks from Pioneer Square up to Powell's City of Books, the largest bookstore in the world (www.powells.com).
If you like to get out and see nature, rent a car and head east on Interstate 84 to see the Columbia Gorge. Scenery starts almost immediately, and in a little over an hour you'll reach historic Hood River, windsurfing capital of the world and home of Full Sail Brewery.
Or, drive west and in 80 minutes you reach the Oregon Coast. Drive 45 minutes southwest of Portland and hit Oregon wine country, home of wines like Erath, Natalie's, Adelsheim, Rex Hill, Sokol Blosser, Domaine Drouhin and dozens more.

Visit the city parks. Walk along both sides of the river. Head to the Zoo and OMSI if you have kids. Have a cocktail at East Lounge in old town. Grab an amazing burger at Davis Street Tavern.
