Delicious food, interesting homemade drinks. Had a kumkuat drinking vinegar last visit mixed as an old fashioned with bourbon and bitters. Delicious. Helpful friendly staff and hands on cultural eating experience. Highly recommended.

The VQ is Portland's best-kept breakfast secret. The food and service are consistently amazing, and the prices are reasonable (i.e., pricier than a diner, cheaper than a hotel). On top of that, there's usually not much of a wait to get seated even on a Saturday morning.

Fabulous science museum similar to the London one, but smaller. And next to the river.

Lots of hands on stuff, particularly good for kids.

Tiny and intimate restaurant, maybe 20 diners max.

Very hard to get in, but worth it. Fantastic food and service. Small menu, lovely, unusual decor and you sit right next to the kitchen, in a good way. Wonderful.

This is an old school turned into a hotel, complete with brew pub, multiple bars and a cinema. It's really something special. There is generally a lot of interesting art and decorations and a special ambiance.

It's not actually in Portland, the city, but is a huge attraction for people who live in nearby Portland. Mt. Hood is the only mountain in the continental US that has all year round skiing!

Just East of Portland on Mt. Hood. This is the lodge where they filmed The Shining...and the skiing is even better than the movie! That says a lot since I love the movie.
