    Check out the Short North

The Short North is the arts district of Columbus on High Street just north of downtown. Funky shops and good bars and restaurants.

This tip has the address "Just north of downtown on High Street (just north of the Convention Center)"

    Barley's Brew Pub

I can't speak to the quality of their food, but their custom brews are awesome. I had an awful lot of the Rasberry Wheat

The North Market... You Can Not Lose!!!!!! There are all kinds of cultural foods there... all really well prepared! Great atmosphere and also to eat outside. This is not a restaurant... but the question was where is a good place to eat. I got to thinking about the question and was like.. well, there is budget, type, etc... so many things to consider. That is when it hit me. The North Market has something for everyone. Then you can take a walk in the short north or to Goodale Park (really close by). Enjoy!!!

Tasi in Italian Village! Order the French Toast ($7 as of March 2010). A Yelp reviewer contended it's the best he's ever had — I agree.

Absolutely agree with Luke on Northstar. A bit expensive but never a disappointment and a pleasant patio. Amazing cookies, flatbread pizzas, ricotta pancakes.. absolutely delicious (and beautiful!) breakfast burrito.

Tasi is equally delicious; in a tucked away spot.. always packed on the weekends for brunch. Favorite? Poached eggs over black bean cake.

Barleys on High Street has passable bar food, but they're really focused on craft beer. Not a particularly lively crowd; mostly business/travel crowd.

    Downtown:

Little Palace has a wonderful stromboli and flatbread pizzas, as well as a mixed green salad (get it with tuna or blackened chicken). 3-4 good beers on tap from Southern Tier, Stone, Great Lakes for example. A pretty mixed crowd of 30-40ish professionals and yet some hipsters too.

Right next to Little Palace is Dirty Franks. Nearly always packed, but worth a stop if you love a unique take on the hot dog! Slightly better beer on tap than Little Palace. Very hipster heavy, youngish crowd, though during the afternoons you'll often find families with kids. Note: If you don't like karaoke, avoid DF on Monday nights.

    Both are open til 2am!

(One negative or positive, depending on your perspective is the Greyhound station down the street. It adds "color" as you never know who's going to come stumbling in.)
