    Best Mexican in Las Vegas.

Lindo Michoacan is by far the best spot in Vegas to get authentic Mexican food. I always make the trip off the strip for Lindo.

    Spicy Hot and Great

Lotus of Siam is a great Thai restaurant, just a short cab ride from the strip. If you want a break from the bright lights and the cacophony of slot machines, you couldn't ask for a better retreat.

    Avoid the Tao

The Tao is overrated and over priced. There are many other places to drop that kind of coin and get a fantastic meal and experience. It was OK, but the highlight was desert NOT the Kobe beef...

Great Views, Great Food at Mix

Mix at the top of THE Hotel (next to the Mandalay Bay) has great food and a great view from the balcony (if you're lucky enough to be seated there - and if so, depending on the time of year take a coat, as it gets windy sometimes). I wouldn't call it a great value, but while it's not cheap, it's not overpriced either for what you get. Do avoid their wine list, though; good vintages, but horrendously overpriced. It's a great place to take someone who hasn't been to Vegas to see the lights spread out at your feet.

    Great Japanese food

I love Osaka on Eastern near Horizon Ridge. Very far off the Strip - probably not a good choice for casino and conference goers. Looks like there are a couple more locations, though.

Paymon's Mediterranean Cafe & Hookah Lounge

Great food and excellent value. Menu has Greek, Italian, Persian, Middle Eastern, Indian, Vegetarian and more. Everything is good, waitstaff is friendly and helpful, AND it's off the strip (though only by a couple of miles) so it's a fantastic break from the melee.

    Great Cajun food and seafood

Check out the Oyster Bar inside Palace Station. Its literally a "bar" - with like 15 seats, so go with a small group. They dont take reservations and seat you on 'first come first served' basis. Worth the wait.

Lawrys Steakhouse has a unique flair. Unfortunately, when I've been there in spring 2008, the steaks were mediocre. But it's still worth a visit, the wine card is excellent, and the waiters are entertaining.

I visited this restaurant two times during this stay. Reasonable price, decent quality, and wide variety of food selection.

Chipotle near Harrah's. It's Mexican food, but it's really cheap. It's one of the cheapest places you're going to find in Vegas in my opinion.
