General Safety Tip

Omaha is a wonderful beautiful city, but like all cities it has its problems. Over the past year Omaha has seen an increase in gang related violent crimes so here are some general rules to follow. - After dark stay south of Dodge Street and West of 72nd. - If you are staying downtown or near the airport utilize a rental car, shuttle, or cab for travel. I would not recommend walking alone or in small groups. - The old market is a wonderful place for dinner, entertainment, and culture but unless you know the area or with someone who does do not venture further west than 14th street. 16th is a popular hangout for dealers, pimps, prostitutes, and homeless.

There are many things to do in Omaha. In the city, you'll find fantastic restaurants, shopping available and unique attractions.

The Henry Doorly Zoo is one of the nation's top-notch zoos. It has a variety of attractions, including an indoor rainforest, a desert dome and large aquarium.

The Old Market, in downtown Omaha, is home to many great restaurants, including The Upstream Brewery, M's Pub, V. Mertz, Zio's Pizzeria, The French Cafe and more. There are also a variety of boutique shops, bars and hotels in or near the Old Market.

Regency Shopping Center is a high end shopping area in Omaha, which includes Borsheim's Jewlery, Williams Sonoma, Pottery Barn and more.

The College World Series is hosted by Omaha every summer. The best teams in college baseball come to the city with their fans and party for two weeks.

Dundee is an area in Midtown that has many bars.
