Dexter King replied over 3 years agoGreat Hotel and Golf in Durham
The Washington Duke Inn is a great place to stay and relatively inexpensive (compared to NYC). Great golf course, as well.
This tip has the address "Very near Duke Univ Campus" -
Glen Fellman replied over 2 years agoAgreed. The Washington Duke is probably the best place to stay in Durham, however, you'll have to drive everywhere. Only thing within walking distance is the golf course and Duke University. The restaurant in the hotel is amazing.
The downtown Marriott is okay. It's big plus is it's proximity to some of Durham's best attractions. It's within walking distance of the Durham Bulls ballpark, American Tobacco campus (restaurants and bars), the new Durham Performing Arts Center and a whole bunch of new and noteworthy downtown restaurants. It's also connected to the Carolina Theater (artsy fartsy movie and live performance theater, home to the documentary film festival).

Nathaniel Hirschler replied 8 months agoExpensive. They nickle and dime you for everything even after the high upfront cost. No refrigerators or microwaves. $10 for breakfast. Classic $4 bottled water, hilarious. Pool closes early at 10 o' clock, even though they have no life guards anyway. Wi-fi internet access is sketchy - two bars, and slow, but you have to pay extra for Ethernet. Only 2 outlets in lame places underneath desks and tables - bring an extension cord if your laptop's battery doesn't last. A/C is loud when it turns on and shuts off if you're trying to sleep.
The beds and pillows, however, are comfortable and aren't squeaky. The air quality is good. Not stuffy.
