Benjamin Mako Hill replied over 4 years agoIf you can swing it, there's a food truck right near the Kendall Square T stop called "Clover" which is rather new and fantastic. It's vegetarian and tends to be made with local, organic ingredients. It's cheap and fast and wonderful. There's a website at cloverfoodlabs.com which you should check first since the truck isn't there every day but they'll tweet when they head down.

Dan Murphy replied over 4 years agoThe sushi bar, Kotobukiya, in the Porter Exchange building near Porter T stop is the best place for affordable, authentic sushi. The Japanese who run it own the grocery store of the same name within the same building so the fish is always fresh. It's 99 cents a piece more most items so for 15 bucks you can eat quite a bit. Don't miss the agedashi tofu. If the sushi doesn't do it for you there are 5-6 other Japanese and Korean food stalls night next to it.

Robin Chase replied over 4 years agoBrookline Lunch in Central Square. Everything is homemade and slightly Middle Eastern. Soup and a sandwich for $4.75, I think. Brookline lunch has the best and most delicious omelettes for breakfast, excellent browned potatoes that include carrots and tomatoes. Homemade jam.

DJ Gallagher replied over 4 years agoAnna's Taqueria (http://www.annastaqueria.com/locations.htm). They have six locations in Boston, Brookline and Cambridge-Somerville making them among the easiest things to find. Pretty standard taqueria fare, wraps and platters made to order in about 30 seconds. Not everyone's impressed by their authenticity, but relative to Boston they score pretty well. Plus, they make a mean lengua quesadilla for $4, and I like their horchata.
