Peter Cook replied over 3 years agoCAFE RECONCILE. In addition to being a GREAT place for an affordable lunch, Cafe Reconcile is a unique experiment in "social entrepreneurship" - the restaurant was founded over a decade ago by a Jesuit priest concerned with both revitalizing the Central City neighborhood and helping young people turn away from life on the streets by providing them with job prospects. Cafe Reconcile is staffed by at-risk youth who are being trained for well-paying jobs in the city's service industry - plus, it's served as a anchor in the revitalization of the neighborhood. The place is casual, cheap, and ALWAYS busy during lunch, but what's even more important is the food, which is great - New Orleans classics, soul food, etc.

James Pineda replied over 3 years agoThe best roast beef po-boys in town are at Parkway Bakery and Tavern. The po-boy is essentially pot roast on crusty french bread. Dressed or not, Parkway has the best roast beef po-boy in town.
