Jesse VanDerPol replied over 3 years agoA Dong is a great family owned Vietnamese restaurant. The food is great and the prices are low. They have the best Pho I have ever eaten. The ingredients are quality and the menu is extensive. I highly recommend this establishment for both lunch and dinner.

Christian Renaud replied over 3 years agoI second Jesse's recommendation for A Dong. Their tofu is also the best I have ever eaten.
Cool Basil in West Des Moines is excellent fresh Thai cuisine.

Elisabeth McLaury Lewin replied over 3 years agoStar Bar is just west of downtown Des Moines on Ingersoll Ave. They have great burgers, veggie/goat cheese panini, spicy jambalaya, and a lot of other hearty meals. Most lunches are less than $10.
They also have a nice Sat/Sun brunch. Nothing fancy, just yummy.
Oh! And their kitchen is open past 10 pm, and is open on Sunday nights, if you (like us) end up needing dinner on the late side.
