The Hob Nob Drive in on 301 at 17th street. Everyone from lawyers to laborers frequent this open air burger joint. The food is good, but the atmosphere is great.

You can always try the Salty Dog out by Mote Marine. Sit out on the deck watching the bird and sea life of New Pass or pull up a stool at the bar made out of an old boat. It's a nice place to pass the afternoon.

A healthy, and budget-friendly option, is also Simon's Coffee House (http://www.simonstogo.com/) at 5900 South Tamiami Trail. Delicious sandwiches and soup, nice wine selection, and recently also offering dinner some nights. Occasionally a short wait for a table at lunch, which just tells you how delicious it is — it's locals doing the waiting, *always* a good sign! Great as a breakfast option, or lunch if you're taking a mid-day break from that gorgeous white sand...
