Van Dyke Café -- pricey but great jazz venue.

Try your darndest to get a table on the second floor where the jazz music is being played. The waiters are considerate and attentive, and the food isn't bad, either.

Exquisito Restaurant for moderately priced Cuban food.

If you're looking for a modestly priced Cuban restaurant off the Miami Beach strip, this place is pretty awesome. For a very decent price, they served more food than my boyfriend and I could finish. The only downside is that the servers do not appear to speak much English here -- we got by on my boyfriend's elementary Spanish skills, and their one-word English questions.

I'll still probably be reminiscing on the garbanzo beans soup and their 'freedom fries' (lol) which were really good. Their sweet potatoes and fried plantains were good, too. I can attest to the authentic Cuban fare -- the flavors were definitely not toned down for the usual US palette.

    Puerto Sagua on Miami Beach

It's considered a hole-in-the-wall Cuban restaurant. From the commentary, it's authentic Cuban fare -- truth is, the food is really delicious (greasiness notwithstanding), but you could probably expect to spend some $20 per person. Their fried yuca is yummy.

If you go there for breakfast, you can expect a typical American breakfast. This does not detract from the fact that it's a good breakfast venue, though. Their grits are pretty great.

Magnum Lounge: The gay bar with some STRONG cocktails.

My cousin and I came here looking for some cocktails and live piano music. This place definitely delivered on both fronts. Their food is alright -- the usual greasy spoon fare. But if you're looking for drinks that will knock you out in one sip, this is the place. I don't think I've ever had a White Russian that was this strong.

"Goodbye, straight people!" I can still hear the pianist say as we walked out of the restaurant. It makes me laugh, because that was when I actually realized we were in a gay bar.

I agree with the person recommending Le Bouchon du Grove. In addition, George's in the Grove is a great french restaurant. It is a little pricier than Le Bouchon, but equally as french and busy. The person who started George's was first working at Le Bouchon, so they're both very similar in their superior quality and exciting environment.

If you want to enjoy a new gem in town; try Ceviche 105. Awesome peruvian food at a good price (rare combination in Miami).

Nestled in the heart of Wynwood, Cafeina merges the worlds of art and nightlife. Full bar with signature cocktails that pay homage to "cafe" in Cafeina and use coffee as the main ingredient. The menu features tapas-style food like Mini-Kobe Burgers, Tuna Tacos and Crab Cakes that Martha Stewart heralded as "The best she's ever had." Great vibe, good art and delicious food and drinks

"The Burgundy Room is unlike any Dolce Group property that has come before a unique, multipurpose space with changing atmosphere and energy depending on what day of the week that you happen to walk through its front doors.

On Sundays and Mondays, patrons might visit to watch sports on an array of HD plasma screen televisions while enjoying a few drinks and a menu of modern bar food. Midweek visitors might enjoy relaxed yet fun dining in a clubby atmosphere, or sit on the restaurant's patio overlooking Grand Avenue while watching the people pass by. Visitors during weekend nights will find themselves in the middle of the best party in South Miami, with dueling pianos, cover bands, DJ's, rock band karaoke and more."
