Jettie's Deli in Foxhall has great sandwiches ($7-$10) and salads. It's Nantucket themed and a little out of the way.

This tip has the address "1609 Foxhall Road NW"

If you're downtown, the Well Dressed Burrito. They're only open weekdays for lunch (11:45-2:15), but the portions are huge, they have a lot of rotating specials, and the cinnamon sugar tortilla chips are great.

if you are downtown during the week the best place for lunch is Breadline. you won't get a better lunch sandwich anywhere else. it can be a bit crowded there thanks to the white house and world bank staff crowd but the wait is worth the bread.

Chinatown is always good if you want to save some $$$s - around the corner of Chinatown - on 6th Street (between Chinatown and the Verizon Center) are also some Thai restaurants. Slightly more expensive, but still under $10 for lunch, and really yummy.

I love the new Bread and Brew restaurant - excellent sandwiches, great desserts, and a bar downstairs with a great beer selection. I'm an omnivore, but I also like their vegan cupcakes.

I have a couple of favorites. If you're on the Hill, I suggest Hamilton's (on 2nd St NW at Constitution) or Good Stuff Eatery (on Pennsylvania Ave SE between 3rd and 4th). Hamilton's is hidden down what seems like an alley but is really a street. Their bar food is wonderful, cheap, and close to the DC attractions. Their drink prices are even better (the best in DC?). Good Stuff is owned by a Top Chef alumnus and has a good basic burger. They give Five Guys a run for their money. It can get crowded but you can order your food to go.
