There are three shopping areas in Santa Monica: Third Street Promenade in the Downtown area, which is the largest by far, Montana Avenue in the North part of Santa Monica, which is the most exclusive and Main Street to the south, which borders Venice and brings you to Abbot Kinney Blvd., (which though in Venice is definitely worth the visit).

For single shops of note -- Fred Segal Santa Monica at 5th and Broadway is a standout for fashionistas.

Don't miss out on the 3 Farmer's Markets in the city, either Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday at various locations.

Farmer's Market on the corner of Main and Ocean Park is a terrific place to visit on Sundays. Delicious food and great fun for all ages.
