Where's good to explore in San Simeon?

  Took the shortest (70 min) "Exploration Tour" and it was worth it! You don't visit the whole thing but get a good idea about the life at the castle. A bus takes you from the visitor center to the castle and back. The tour ends at the magnificent indoor swimming pool.

  Show up early or make reservations online for the tour as they sell out quickly. Try to eat somewhere before you get up to the castle, as once you get there you're stuck paying way too much for mediocre food. Give yourself plenty of time to go down to the ocean before or after the castle. It is pretty much untouched and very tranquil.
