Rei Do Gado in the Gaslamp. Brazilian barbecue, come hungry and prepared to eat. Huge range of barbecued meat, steak, chicken, turkey, pork, sausages etc. Really nice salad and sides bar although don't fill up too much on salad, rice, potatoes, cheeses, fruit, bread, soup!!!

Try a Caipirinha, Brazils national cocktail made with an alcohol similar to rum made from sugar and lime! Absolutely fabulous!

Cafe Sevilla! Great Tapas and atmosphere. I would make a reservation on a weekend night and make sure you specify a dining room table or you may be placed in the bar.

Dick's Last Resort in the Gaslamp District. Craziest Eatery I've been too. Sarcastic waitresses give rude service complete with cuss words and sexual innuendos (even a clown that does erotic balloon animals). The drinks were great. I don't even remember the food. Just a fun place to visit if you aren't an uptight snob. Good for the first night because shock value always jump starts a vacation.
