Emin Pashi is the most beautiful place to stay, with a fantastic restaurant as well. The Serena is your basic western hotel with all the amenities and you might as well be in Omaha. I've had friends stay at the Hotel Le Bougainviller and say they like it.

The kids seem to like the Red Chili Hostel.

I also stayed at the Sheraton right across the street from Speke, and it was, well, Sheraton. If you do decide to stay at the Sheraton, try and avoid the 4th floor, it seems it has been made into a non-smoking floor very, very recently.

Another authentic place to stay is the Banda Inns guesthouse. The room prices are very fair (15-40 Euros), most rooms have own bath/toilet, and the breakfast is served on the veranda, overlooking a nice little well-kept garden. The place is owned by a half Norweigan, half Ugandan, and they have a 4W van available fo rent including a driver should you decide to go to the national parks for safari.

If you are in transit through Entebbe, or not wanting to stay near the hubbub of Kampala you should check out the Boma Hotel. It's a small guest house a few kilometers from the Airport, to which they offer free pickup and dropoffs at any time. The rooms are tidy en-suite bungalows, the room rates are reasonable, the grounds are quiet and pretty, the restaurant is good and the owners are Irish. What more could you need? I find it's perfect for business travel, being 10 minutes from the airport terminal, and without the fuss of a big city hotel. You may even catch me sitting in the garden drinking a cold bottle of Nile Special on one of my frequent visits!

Stay at the french owned The Bougainviller www.bougainviller.com , nicely located near an ATM and a good supermarket, small pool, good french influenced food, great garden with small pool, fantastic rooms with own veranda or balcony and excellent wifi throughout the property. Highly recommended
