Dar es Salaam, Tanzania + Add a trip

A fabulous, and fabulously expensive hotel; the infinity pool is one of the best places in Dar to escape reality, and who can resist sundowners at the Level 8 bar? But I can't resist wondering why, after checking in, instead of an offer with assistance with my luggage, I was simply told the number of my room, and then left to figure out the location of the elevator. Fine with me, since I travel very light. Then my thoughts turn to mealtime service. At the excellent Japanese and Thai restaurant, Oriental, it took what felt like forever before someone cleared my plates, and that only happened because I finally went to break up the little social discussion the waiters were enjoying behind the cash register. And at breakfast, does anyone really want to go searching for a spoon on the other tables? I don't mind when I'm in my own home, but surely not at a five-star hotel...
