They don't usually have credit card reader in the taxi. In 2008, there was only one bank in Taiwan issued the credit card that can be used for taxi fare. However if you're traveling within Taipei city you probably don't need to worry about it since there are metro stations everywhere. And also when you buy the Metro Pass, you can always top up and it can be used for all kinds of public transport and also cabs. Simply swipe it on the sensor set at the back of the driver's seat. Even no need for signature! Due to the fact that this is a new system, I still didn't find the English information about this on Taipei Metro Website. So you might have to ask the staff in Metro stations when you arrive.
