    State Tower - The Dome

Variety of restaurants at the top of the State Tower. Probably has the greatest city view in Bangkok. Dinner is pricey but if you don't want dinner, the bars there offer the same great views for the price of a drink.

    Vertigo Bar

On the top floor of the Banyan Tree Hotel, a 5 minute tuktuk/motosai ride from Silom BTS. Drinks are expensive but the view is worth it. Show up around 5:30pm to get the best seat of the sunset. Don't forget your camera.

T&K seafood stall on the corner of Th Yaowarat and Th Phadungdao

In chinatown, after dark, the corner of Th Yaowarat and Th Phadungdao is teeming with people as the tables of seafood stalls spill out onto the street.

T&K is paradise for a seafood fan. Simple, fresh and tasty south-chinese recepies.

You should really try the Seafood Market on Sukhumvit soi 24. It is like a big seafood market where you pick your own seafood and they will cook it according to your instructions. A little bit pricey but definitely worth trying!

Best pad thai found at Thip Samai, near the Golden Mount. They serve ONLY pad thai, prepared in huge, charcoal-fired woks. Great place to end up after late night drinking :D

Wai Thai- there is more than one branch - I went to the Silom one twice. Excellent food, stylee place, delicious dragonfruit juice. Goo options for vegetarians too. Mostly thai people in there, but western influence in design of restaurant. With all the amazing food in Bangkok seeking out the same place twice in a 10 day stay indicates how excellent I thought it was! www.waithai.com has menu and pictures. Real healthy. The spicy fruit salad was great :-) Silom branch - 183 Silom Road, or website mentions another - Sukhumvit - The Mezz, 10th Floor, Bumrungrad International Clinic, Soi 3, Sukhumvit Road

Nice bar in low key area (i.e. not Sukhumvit sex-pat land) with live jazz most nights. The claim of "one of the best bars in the world, 1997" emblazoned on the menus is a bit on the clingy side given it's 2009 but still a nice bar none the less. A bunch of other small bars right nearby too.

Buzzing place for food & wine. Excellent display of cheeses, meats which you can just order & eat with your wine (at shop prices). Atmosphere is electric for a restaurant which will not take bookings at weekends as it is so successful.

Face Bangkok is a collection of timber buildings in a garden setting , designed and erected in the traditional Thai “lanna” style. There are three restaurants serving Asian cuisines- Thai, Indian and Japanese sushi bar. Also there is the Face Bar and lounge. The interiors are decorated with furniture and art from various Asian cultures. Located in a “quiet” soi (street) of the main Sukhumvit Road- just a short walk from Thonglor BTS station.

I have some photos inside FACE at following link-

for some quick bites to go, i recommend two of my fave places that were introduced by my local friend!

MANGO TANGO - for all things, umm, mango, and they serve up one of the best mango sticky rice (Khao Niaow Ma Muang) too! (Siam Square soi 5, near Hotel Novotel Siam Square)

MONT NOM SOD - fresh milk and thick toast with various spreads, like condensed milk, chocolate and marmalade. great for an afternoon snack! (MBK, Level 2, towards the exit to Pathumwan Princess Hotel)

Super nice vegan raw food place, also doing yummy fresh juices and of course a wide range of delicious raw food - successfully showing that healthy can also mean yummy! The place is beautiful, too, a true little oasis! I can highly recommend it, went there with three "meat eaters" and they LOVED it too!

A hidden-away small little bar with artsy/creative/celeb crowd, with loads of cocktails, made by the owner himself. And the place has many shades of retro, from the 40's to the 80's, judging from its furniture and decor. A must go if you wanna see something more local than Khao Sarn road...

The opening earlier this year of Hyde & Seek gastro bar was a welcome addition to the Bangkok dining and bar scene – bringing a style and attention to detail that is a rarity in Bangkok. It is not surprising that Hyde & Seek has become an almost instant hit with the discerning Bangkok clientele that appreciate this kind of quality offering.
