Randel Powell replied over 4 years agoJW Marriott, on Sukhumvit, is where I have stayed most frequently. It is approximately equi-distant between the Ploen Chit and Nana BTS sky-train stations.

Paul Campy replied over 4 years agoLuxx, one of Mr & Mrs Smith's chosen hotels, is extremely cool and in Silom, near the Skytrain, markets and nightlife.
Have to admit that I loved the Park Plaza - a little international sanctuary from the bustle of Bangkok. Not too large, with a nice rooftop pool and slap bang in the middle of Sukhumvit, near Skytrain and subway.

Gard Karlsen replied over 4 years agoI have stayed at several hotels around Bangkok. The last time I went there I stayed at Centara Grand at CentralWorld. The room had a nice and modern layout, the service was good and the location not bad (not that you do have to walk for 10-15 minutes to get to the skytrain station). Here is a review with a few photos based on my stay there in December 2008: http://gardkarlsen.com/Centara_Grand_at_CentralWorld_Bangkok_review.htm

Stephen Frater replied over 4 years agoHave only stayed once and was at the Amari Atrium which was excellent.
Outside central so travel options include the hotel's free shuttle bus - check timetable for details, the underground at Petchburi is only 5 minutes walk away.
Got one late night taxi from Patpong, paid about £2.

Dee Edwards replied over 4 years agoI don't want to say..or even my second or third choice as I don't want them to get crowded :-)
So I'll just say a couple of other great hotels which are Shanghai Inn in the Chinatown section and Metropolitan near Lumpini Park. The latter is clearly a lot bigger but has a fabulous pool. It's also walking distance to the Banyan Tree, home to Vertigo, arguably the best rooftop bar in Bangkok and Suan Lum night bazaar.

remittance girl replied over 4 years agoThe Grand President. Rooms are a little shabby, but a suite including breakfast, airport pick-up and free internet go for under $99.
This tip has the address "Sukhumvit, Soi 11" -
Peter Anderson replied over 4 years agoWe loved the Park Plaza Sukhumvit. Right near the Asok MRT/BTS, good pool on the roof, terrific staff, cheap as chips for what you get. Made the Banyan Tree look rubbish. Which it was.

Amitabh Sinhgal replied over 4 years agobest western mayfair suites at soi phetbhuri. I liked it, because it was reasonably priced for the suites that we were given. Some may find the location a little odd, but if you can walk for 3/4 minutes to the skytrain, it's fine. Value for money hotel, with all amenities included.

Steve Marcopoto replied over 3 years agoI have found the Naturalville executive suites at Soi Langsuan to be a great alternative to hotels. It is on a well located Soi with nice restaurants and offers exceptional value. The one bedroom suites are quite large and comfortable. It has a nice Le Notre restaurant with a streetside patio for coffee and drinks. You don't get the elegance, ambiance or over the top bathrooms of Mandarin, Pen, or the other great Bangkok options, but you get an awful lot for your money. And the staff treats you like they're the staff of your home apartment building.

Joakim Uddling replied over 3 years agoJ W Marriott Resort & Spa is my absolute favorite hotel in Bangkok. It is situated by the river, calm, relaxing and really nice after a busy day in the chaos city. They have a free shuttle boat which stops at one of the Sky Train stations. They have a really good spa and the breakfast is excellent.

Reko Thailand replied over 3 years agoI have lived in Bangkok my whole life, but usually not in the heart of the city. I used to get up at 5am to go to school and work, but after years of sacrificing my sleeping hours, I decided I had to relocate. I looked for a place that would allow me to sleep in a little more and not be late for important appointments, so a BTS station was my priority. V Residence makes it easy for me to travel, even when the traffic peaks. The room itself is very impressive – fully equipped with top-range furniture and facilities. Life is much better when you don’t have to spend hours on the road! http://www.vresidence.com

Reko Thailand replied over 3 years agoMy family went to Thailand on my extended business trip and we needed a place to stay temporarily but we also needed something we could call our happy home. Since we did not know the roads in Bangkok, we relied much on the skytrain, which thankfully stops right in front of the soi. The kids enjoyed the proximity between home and their favourite department store. V Residence is only a few minutes’ drive away from a park so every weekend my family would go on a picnic together. It has all the convenient facilities and luxury. My stay in Thailand was very pleasant because of our home in V Residence.
