  For typical Slovenian food, Pod Lipo Gostilna near Slovenska cesta is great.. check out:

  One possibility is to fly to London then fly via Easyjet from London Stansted direct to Ljubljana.

  Otherwise, do what we did, fly into somewhere nearby and then travel from there. We flew into Trieste in Italy (1.5 hours drive away). Other relatively local places are Venice (3 hours drive away) or Klagenfurt, Austria (45 mins drive away).

  Ljubljana is a modern city with about 300.000 inhabitants. The most attractive is old part down the river, under Ljubljana castle (more than 860 years old). Ljubljana is very safe city - you can see a lot of people on the streets until early morning. Ljubljana has good connections - by train from Trieste (Italy), Budapest (Hungary), Munich (Germany), Zagreb (Croatia) ..... Airport is about 25 km from Ljubljana and is daily connected with Frankfurt, Paris, London (Easyjet), Istanbul, Munich, Vienna, Budapest, on summer also Oslo, Barcelona, some Arabic tourist places ....

  It's about 1 hour by car to reach Adriatic coast (cities Koper, Piran, Portorož) or 30-60 minutes to come in mountains (Alpes) or famous lakes Bled or Bohinj. In winter you can ski on several places, the closest is Krvavec, about 30 ,minutes by car. Famous Postojna cave (with human fish) is about 50 km far away.
