    really nice drives

there are some really nice drives around the country. if you don't have a car get a taxi to drive you around. 1. mount pleasant- it's not really a mount at all, but a winding road with hidden black and white houses in the forest.

    2. ecp, from east to west- you get to see the city in one fell swoop. it feels like taking a panorama shot of the city.

    3. mandai road- this is a classic singapore road really old trees lining the roads, practically engulfing it, creating a shady drive.

bear in mind that singapore is actually a really small country, so dont expect the drives to be really long affairs.

    The other side of Singapore

Prostitution is legal in Singapore. The place where you can see most evidence of this as a tourist (ie without actually partaking) is in Little India on Desker Road. There is a long alley behind Desker Road which is a very open Red Light district aimed at the construction workers on temporary employement passes. IE, it is very cheap. Expats don't frequent this place (for that check out Orchard Towers where for a few buck you will think you're the hottest guy on the planet).

This place is safe for women in groups but it is better to bring a guy or two with you just in case.

Seeing this place will blow away all your previous conceptions of how sterile Singapore is.

Go at night but pref avoid Sunday when it will be packed with workers.

I agree most of the locations / places however I strongly suggest a Visit to Sentosa. You dont want to miss the Laser Show.

I think this is a very underrated place to visit. While a lot of effort has obviously been put into trying to recreate the feel of this place "as it might have been", the sheer lack of evidence means that this site is a lot less "dressed up" than, say, the Cabinet War Rooms in Delhi. I liked it very much.

One of my favourite museums in Singapore; it brings Chinatown in the 1920s and '30s to life. The restored shophouse is fascinating as well and is extremely well evoked. I'd strongly recommend this to anybody visiting Singapore.

Miss the laser show IMHO, but head for Fort Siloso, the Chairlift, sled ride, and the 1/2hour island Segway tour.

Well worth the visit. Hands down one of the best experiences you can add to your Singapore trip.

Another must do on your Singapore trip. Make sure to go up on a clear day, and for an extra special experience do it at night. You won't regret it.

If you're a beer buff, or just like exploring big things then this is something to cross off the list. $10 for the tour, and its a full 45min trek around the site getting an insight to the sheer scale of beer production.

Of course, its an obligatory stop off at the company bar at tour's end for a few pints, stories of the brewery, and you can even take the challenge to join The Order of the Boot.

Another must visit Singapore location. Get up close and personal to 800+ different species of birds amongst a massive and lush tropical landscape.

Not withstanding the sheer amount of bird life and just how close you can get, a personal recommendation is to visit the Lorry Loft where you'll have the opportunity to feed the Lorikeets as well as have them use you as a bird perch.

There's truckloads of great photo opportunities to be had at the park, and its a day out well spent.

An extra hint: You can get a multi-park price at a deep discount which will allow you to visit the Singapore Zoo and Night Safari on a single ticket which lasts a whole month.

The lighting isn't that bright so you can barely see the animals. You probably want to make all the shows though.

a place away from the chaos of singapore to enjoy some proper coffee. the folks there are really serious about coffee, which explains why they only sells what they roast inhouse, and there are nothing else except the black fuel. the courtyard and tasting bar are charming little areas which are hard to find elsewhere.

a definite place to visit if you are in search for some nice coffee to taste and beans to take away.
