Hawker centers or food courts in every malls. The best one are Maxwell Market in Chinatown and East Coast Park Foodcourt in East Coast beach. Newton Hawker Centre is good too but too touristy & be wary of touts.

Aside from the ones already listed, if you ever make it to the following hawker centres, you'll also be in for a gastronomic treat!

    - Chomp Chomp (nearest MRT: Serangoon, bus 317/315 from Serangoon Bus Interchange) One of the most famous eating places in Singapore, it boasts a variety of food, and is most well known for its gigantic glasses of sugar cane juice, and fried hokkien prawn mee.

    - Lavender Food Street (nearest MRT: Lavender) The prawn noodles here is one of the local faves. Well, mine, anyways :)

    - Commonwealth Food Market (Margaret Drive, nearest MRT: Queenstown) Food that comes highly recommended here are the chicken rice (Tong Kee), fishball noodles, char kway teow (there is always a queue for it once it opens), Western food and kaya toast.
