On Sundays you should take a stroll across one of the many bridges in Stockholm to Skeppsholmen and visit the Museum of Modern art (Moderna Museet).

A Sunday visit to the museum is great because after your look at all the artwork you can go to the restaurant and have the magnificent "all you can eat" brunch. It has two separate seatings at 12 noon or 2pm. Many small and beautiful dishes, some of which are typical Swedish fare such as gravlax, pickled herring, freshly baked bread and sweets. http://www.modernamuseet.se/

If you want a fast sight-seeing of Sweden, visit Skansen at Djurgården. Not so fun in the winter but highly recommended in the summer.

Take a long walk on Djurgården. Do some shopping in the small streets of central Södermalm.

To make opposite thing to all others going to Stockholm city center, take the Lidingöbanan from Ropsten T-station. Very nice old-fashion train, nice views especially the magnificent "Villas" around. To explore the "busy" shopping street take bus 201 from Kottla train-stop to Lidingö Center. Have a nice coffee break in Princess café. Train and buses are part of the Stockholm area SL ticket system.

I suggest that you travel to the south part of Stockholm city, preferably to the Zinkensdamm subway station and then walk the Krukmakargatan street towards Mariatorget. It's a short walk, but has some really nice places to visit, including Nitty Gritty and APC (clothes), Papercut (magazines, books, music and DVDs), Brandstationen (antiques, old stuff, accessories), a couple of different antique/old furniture shops and nearby (Wollmar Yxkullsgatan 10) you've got Drop Coffee (best café in the city).
