Daniel Fascia replied over 4 years agoI like Sturehof, it's a Stockholm classic. It's been there a long time, doing what it does well.
I often take friends who are new to Stockholm to show them some classic Swedish dishes done well in an upmarket dining environment. The service is always top notch too, with waitresses in their classic white nautical themed uniforms.
You also can't beat it as a place to sit in the summer for an outside lunch and a bit of people watching
I will be back soon.

Hans Fast replied over 4 years agoPontus is a very stylish restaurant, well actually it is two restaurants. The restaurant downstairs feels more like New York then Stockholm. Everything pricey but serves greatly prepared "Swedish Noveau" food with a twist. Great wine selection and knowledgeable staff. Only complaint is that the tables for two can feel a bit cramped. The downstairs restaurant is more a place to eat if you are 4-8 people than if you are two. Upstairs is the equally stylish, but this time minimalist, sushi/asian fusion bar and restaurant. More relaxed, more after work than a regular restaurant. Great hang out since its right in the center but on a small side street. Highly recommended.

Hans Fast replied over 4 years agoRolfs Kök has been around for 15 and some years. It was one of the first restaurants in Stockholm with an open kitchen in the center of the restaurant. You can see the chefs working right in front of you. Great food. Great atmosphere. A bit on the louder side later in the evenings. You feel equally at home if you are a group or by yourself. Friendly staff.

Hans Fast replied over 4 years agoA bit difficult to say something good about this restaurant, but I will try. They serve a great, if somewhat pricey, brunch on Sundays. During brunch there can be a small jazz trio playing live, which is a very nice touch. Dining is a bit like sitting in an American diner. Staff is rushing by your table contstantly. The restaurant is housed in the Clarion Sign Hotel. Layoued out on the bottom floor in the hotel atrium makes you feel you are eating in a huge hall or public museum type area, where cosiness is not in abundance. They are trying to make it more cozy by hanging large curtains from the ceiling and dimming the lights. Does not work in my opinion. But please go for brunch.

Andreas Ehn replied over 4 years agoAlways giving you good value for your money, the four or five tables at this small restaurant are packed any day in the week. With a selection of some ten hearty soups at around 150 kr, this place is particularly recommended if you're on a budget. Don't forget to ask the friendly staff for the recommended beer to go with you soup!

hejlnl replied over 3 years agoI like the new Story Hotel in Östermalm. It's an unassuming hotel that's simplistic in concept and execution. Refreshingly designed spaces, ease-of-use online booking, online check in at the kiosk, five digit room codes and no keys to misplace or re-code.
The hotel's decor is eco-friendly but not overly so with comforts like heated bathroom floor tiles, plenty of light, and hand sculpted signature mugs . It's surprisingly quiet and the friendly staff make sure everyone welcome.
Walking distance to the t-bahn and Stockholm's bustling nightlife, restaurants and lovely waterside walking views at dusk.
I strongly encourage you to fill out the cleverly cheeky comment card left on every bed.

Hakan Nyberg replied over 3 years agoAaah... Rival! It's a very nice hotel that happens to be owned by the second 'B' in ABBA, the Swedish 70s pop phenomena. It's been called many things but I like to refer to it as a nice hotel. Nice and cosy instead of flashy. My images and my unbiased review here: http://www.guidebook.se/?p=565

Hakan Nyberg replied over 3 years agoIt's the new Lydmar Hotel and it's good. If the old one was like a hip New Yorkish hangout where bands played and everybody tried to feel like they've seen and done it all, this is more relaxed and homey. As a hotel it's a more pleasant place with a location that can only be matched by the Grand Hôtel. Rooms are larger – and better – than you'd expect and... well, see for yourself here: http://www.guidebook.se/?p=432

Hakan Nyberg replied over 3 years agoIt has been around since 1874 and with some bad luck it could have been a stuffy, posh and pompous place. It is not. It provides the gold standard for impeccable service in Sweden. It's very hard to beat. Plus; they have got Scandinavia's highest concentration of Michelin-starred restarurants... Top notch without being over-the-top. http://www.guidebook.se/?p=405

Hakan Nyberg replied over 3 years agoIt's not exactly modern. In fact, parts of it feel a bit like an 80s time capsule. But I'd be lying if I said that I didn't like the Berns Hotel a lot. Location is fantastic. The fact that you're staying in a nightclub/concert venue is never a problem (soundproofing that works!) and the staff are as superb as the breakfast. Recommended. http://www.guidebook.se/?p=271

Hakan Nyberg replied over 3 years agoFrantzén LIndeberg offers nothing less but an amazing meal experience. It's experimental but not whimsy. It's stylish but not stuffy. It has ambitions but is never pretentious. In fact, I had one of my top-three meals ever here. Not cheap but never disappointing. Read/see more at Guidebook (and then a dot and then) se :: h ::

Hakan Nyberg replied over 3 years agoRaison d'Etre Spa & Fitness at the Grand Hôtel – the marketing fluff made me skeptic; words like "holistic" and "inspired by Nordic mythology" mentioned in the same sentence? Everything gets crystal celar when you enter the space. The interior makes perfect sense, the service is impeccable and the treatments could have been delivered in a parking garage and the place would still have been worth visiting. Now, luckily enough this is way more pleasant than a parking garage... See the images and a proper review here: http://www.guidebook.se/?p=742
