Bondens Marknad at Katarina Bangata. Each Saturday between 10-15

I don't know if the best, but there's one everyday in Hötorget (same name for the subway station). T centralen offers a wide variety of shops. And they are both pretty close to each other. Want more trendy clothes? Go to Götgatan (Slussen subway station)

Adjacent to the Hötorget outdoor market is Hötorgshallen which is a great place to buy locally produced meats, fresh fish, vegetables, wine and other specialties.

Hötorgshallen is great and the outdoor market can deliver real bargains when near closing time.

The market at Östermalmstorg just outside of Östermalms Saluhall is small but friendly. The food stuffs found at various stands and stalls inside the Saluhall were great to examine and sample.

Södermalm provides the best shopping. The island is crammed with small and fashionable stores.

Try Street at Hornstull at Södermalm, it´s the (very, very small) Swedish version of Chatutjak market… ;-)

A boring but safe bet if you don't have too much time but fancy slightly more "upscale" clothes is NK. Then walk via Biblioteksgatan to Sturegallerian and then back to absolute downtown via Kungsgatan. A nice "triangle" you can do in say 1-2 hours, pending the time you spend shopping/trying clothes. After living 9 years in Stockholm, this is "my" modus operandi when I'm there.

Hötorgshallen is a foodmarket at Hötorget with a lot of really good small take-away places. If the weather is good, bring the food outside and sit on the stairs of Konserthuset. http://www.hotorgshallen.se

For cool fashion shopping, i'd say Södermalm at Götgatan and the alleys around it between Slussen and SoFo.
