Andreas Lundmark replied over 4 years agoThe best local food market is Dorogomilovsky Rynok, just behind the Keiv Railway station and close to the Europe Shopping mall.
The best market is Izmaylovsky. There is a part for tourists where you can buy everything from souvenirs to authentic WWII helmets and weapons (although might be hard to get out of the country). Behind it is the huge market, where many Muscovites do their weekend shopping and where many of the small-shop keepers in Moscow do their wholesale procurement. Mostly run by central asians and increasingly chinese.

Henry Michel replied over 3 years agoI really advice to go to Izmaylovskaya Bazaar, a huge market north-east of moscow. Metro statio Partizanskaïa or Ismailovskaya. you will find here lots of goods from all Russia, from furs to bootleg dvds ! Lots of clothing, souvenirs, matrioshka, yet not touristical (lots of russians from other regions come here, but no international tourists). As long as you're not waving your expensive camera at everybody, this is a rather safe and friendly place; You can eat shashlicks while you're wandering, i like this place, always appreciated by my newcomer friends to russia.

Roman Shapovalov replied over 2 years agoSomeone mentioned the shopping malls Evropeyskiy and Okhotnyi Ryad; I would not recommend them; they are not really big (some decent shops are missing, the rest tend to be pricey), but they are very popular (among tourists) and therefore crowdy. Instead one could ride a few stations from the city centre to Schuka mall (Schukinskaya station, Maroon underground line), or Metropolis (Voikovskaya station, Green line)
