I would not recommand you to go in local markets because it is quite safe and you will not see markets like those in Spain or Turkey. For shopping, go to Baneasa Shopping Mall, the biggest mall in Romania. There are many shops but be aware that prices can be higher than those from the same shop in western Europe.
