(John Malkovich's) LUX club is so wonderful... good music, nice people (very few tourists) and sunrise at the balcony! :-) And of course: taste the original Pastei de Belem.... sounds and looks touristic but definitely worth the queue

The best vegetarian restaurant in town! A delightful buffet with lots of yummi choices. You won't want to stop eating! Even if you're not vegetarian but love good food, you will love this food eden! I always take my non-vegetarians friends here when I want to show them what vegetarian food really tastes like and they always get hooked! They always end up eating more than they can take and they definitely change their mind about vegetarians (I think they get jealous!) If you're visiting Lisbon don't miss this one!

Jazz in Lisbon Go to this small club near Bairro Alto and the botanical garden, called Hot Clube de Portugal. Good atmosphere and nice people.

One of the oldests of the world. Modern jazz played by local and foreigner musicians. Open from 10pm to 02 am. Closed Sunday and Monday. No dinners, just drinks sandwichs. The club includes a small open air area.

Check out http://www.jazz-clubs-worldwide.com/docs/portugal.htm for more info.

This is one of the best hostels I’ve ever stayed at, and I’ve slept on many a hostel bed.

The Lisbon Poets Hostel is cheap (a bed in a room of 4 runs €18 during low season, €20 during high season), stylish yet homey, spacious yet cozy, centrally located, and has a small, friendly staff (headed by the owners – a young couple who are there almost all the time).

A basic breakfast of all you can eat fresh rolls, butter, marmalade, scrambled eggs, cereal, coffee, milk, and juice is included in the price of your stay. In the kitchen, you can make your own lunch or dinner to eat at the tables in the common room, where there are also two computers with free internet access, comfy bean bags and a hammock by the wall of windows to lounge on after a long day of walking up and down Lisbon’s hilly, cobblestone streets, and a couch and TV for your enjoyment.

This is a great and not very known garden in Lisbon. It has a great view of the city. And it's in a really nice neighborhood with some great nice houses.

One of the loveliest places to chill out and have a late lunch overlooking the river to the Almada side, with a view of the 24 abril bridge and cristo rei.

Very lovely, I always go there with friends and bump into more when I'm there.

Complete tourist trap. Yes the surroundings are baroque - but the nouvelle cuisine is awful. I lost the will to live when they brought me a blade of grass with a raspberry divided into eight segments.

Nice Hotel; good location for excursions and daytrips; parking on site; rack-rate is around 100 Euro, but out of high-season you can negotiate quite well! 45 to 50 per night is reachable

Fantastic viewpoint over the city, close to the Miradouro da Graça but a different atmosphere. A good place for a newspaper-break on one of the benches, with a super view.

Confortable Hotel in a nice and calm residential area. Rooms are confortable and clean and the staff is really kind. The hotel is close to the metro station Sao Sebastiao (to go to city center) and to the bus station Praça de Espanha (to go to the beach of Costa da Caparica): both stations are about 10 minutes walk. In the area there are a lot of small restaurants, where you can have berbecued fish and other tipical portuguese food for cheap, and the shopping center "Corte Ingles" with a multi-screen cinema inside (most of the films are in original version with portuguese subtitles)

Restaurant and bar on the beach. Perfect for a quick meal or for chilling out in front of the sea and watching the sunset with a cocktail or a batido in your hand. They also make great salads and huge toasts: both delicious. Plus: there is free wifi internet and they have a great taste for reggae music!

Very very small restaurant, but great food: must have the "Bacalhau Ti Natércia". It's codfish and vegetables rolled in puff pastry and cooked in the oven. The owner is very nice and chatty (even tought I doubt she can speak much english;-). At the end of the meal you wont believe how cheap that is. You might want to call if you plan to go there with friends because the place is really small.
