Paolo Maligaya replied over 3 years agoThe best thing to do on a weekend (or any day) is to explore one of the medieval city centers, like Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur. I strongly suggest you go first to Bhaktapur, stay there for the night (but walk around before you sleep) and as early as six in the morning, walk around the whole place. It's a medieval town waking up as if the past centuries did not happen. It's amazing.

Gaurab Upadhaya replied over 3 years agoIf here for work during the week, for the weekend, take a hike (not car) to Nagarkot or any of the adjoining villages like pharphing, harisiddhi, bhaisepati, sankhu, luvu, changu, thimi, kakani etc. There are a lot of small ancient villages nearby, like an hour drive from the city, and they all make interesting visits. Walking from villages to villages around the rim of the valley for a few hours is really nice, specially in winter. There is lot less traffic on the weekend in the city - so walking aroudn the old squares is easier on weekends as well.
