There are some OK options if you like Asian food. Nye Sala Thai resturant in Løkkeveien, and a couple in Pedersgate.

Finn's konditori in front of the Sølvberget Kulturhus (cultural centre) is a Stavanger staple. Ask for "Halvt horn med ost, skinke og piffi" (bread with ham, cheese and mixed spice) or a "Heidevegg med smør" (soft bread with butter). Delicious (but not super-cheap - but then again nothing is in Norway :-)

How to find it: it's to the right of the main entrance to the kulturhus/cinema. On the corner of Sølvberggata and Søregata.

Mikado is a very good Japanese/Chinese restaurant. It has low prices, starters from 25-60 kroner, main courses: 80-280 kroner, desserts: 42-65 kroner and lunch for about 50-100 kroner.
