Sumo, close to Torgallmenningen (the main square) has affordable and great Asian food. Excellent for a hot lunch.

Zupperia has great, cheap soups and some Asian meals as well, though I always stick to the soups. Their soup of the day is 59 kr and comes in a generous serving with bread. Other soups vary from 89-129 kroner. The Rudolph soup (reindeer) is a bit of a tourist attraction. They also make a great Tom Ka Gai.

Zupperia is in the basement of Permanenten Vestlandske Kunstindustrimuseum (Museum of Applied Arts) in Nordahl Bruns gate 9, very close to the main city square.

If you're really on a tight budget, the hot-dog stand, Trekroneren, at the start of Kong Oscars gate does the cheapest hot-dogs in town (as well as the largest). And a free drink too!
