Kars Alfrink replied over 3 years agoProvided the weather's good, take a stroll along the "singels" – the moat that runs along the old city walls. Start at Lucasbolwerk and head south along Maliesingel. Continue along Tolsteegsingel and finish at Ledig Erf. This laid back square has several cafés, each with its own terrace. Café Ledig Erf is my favourite, thanks to its generous list of Belgian beers. Alternatively, head to the Louis Hartlooper Complex, for a drink, dinner or an art-house film.

Albert Edelman replied over 3 years agoThe Centraal Museum always is a good idea for an interesting mix of Mediaeval, Baroque and Classical art and contemporary works, paintings as well as other mediums. The museum is at the forefront (even though it is not too large) when it comes to exhibitions on current fashion, for instance there's a comprehensive Viktor & Rolf show until early 2009. Far from being an 'old' museum, despite the many key old works, the museum directs much attention at children's activities as well.

Jud replied over 3 years agoLedig Erf is great, and if you come from the middle of town, whichever route you take will take you through some of the most beautiful parts of old Utrecht.

jean-jacques lasseur replied over 3 years agoThe touristic office next to the domtower offers much information and is also used as a starting pont for many thematic walks through the city. (www.domtoren.nl) My recommendation would be to take a boattrip through the canals and have some drinks afterwards on one of the canal wharfs. (www.schuttevaer.com) The hotel restaurant Karel V, located in a former monastery built in the 14th century, offers a great medieval atmosphere. You can have lunch at the restaurant (1 Michelinstar) and enjoy the scenery. (www.karelv.nl)
