Weekendhotel has the best listings for chic B&Bs and apartments so you don't need to stay in a hotel. It also has an availability calendar.
My personal favorite is En Suite. I've stayed also at Mart Gallery. Both are on the canals right in the center.
You can check out my list of Amsterdam favorites here: http://www.mapplr.com/2008/03/28/mapplr-favorite-hotels-amsterdam/
A new very chic boutique hotel called Patou opened in Amsterdam Zuid in the expensive shopping street: http://www.mapplr.com/2008/10/06/hotel-patou-luxury-boutique-hotel-in-amsterdam/

Peter Orlov replied over 4 years agoMiauw Suites (Hartenstraat 36) see http://www.miauw.com is central and very reasonably priced. Weber (Marnixstraat 397) see http://www.hotelweber.nl is close to the nightclubs and the fun and also good for the money.
Or Seven One Seven (Prinsengracht 717) see http://www.717hotel.nl which is simply the best hotel in town (but not cheap).

Kim Weckström replied over 4 years agoBed and Breakfast Jordaan, owner Charlotte van Sante with husband great people with a great little place in the laid back but slightly trendy district. Old house, newly renovated. Charlotte brings the breakfast on a tray every morning. Good service and Charlotte is a great concierge with plenty of local budget tips. A double is 100€ per nite. Best B&B in Europe award 2007/2008.
