The Hilton KL is very nice, but not near the golden triangle. But it's at the train station and a quick taxi or monorail ride away, so it was worth it for me. Very easy to get to and from the airport, which can be an expensive taxi ride.

I have stayed at Traders hotel a couple of times and I think it is a great hotel. The service is amazing, the location is great (at least for me as I was working in the Petronas Twin Towers) and the rates are pretty good. The Nikko is well situated near the twin towers, inexpensive and has a great breakfast buffet.

Hotel Maya***** Very chique with things like heated semi-outdoor swimming pool, fitness and dvd-library, but still affordable if you book in advance!!! http://www.hotelmaya.com.my
