    If you stand far enough, the roofs look like two umbrellas- one open and one folded.

    Many tour guides say that the 18 points on the roof symbolize the 13 states of Malaysia and the 5 pillars of Islam. This is not true, and one of the architects has already confirmed that. However, the story still goes around among locals and tourists alike.
