Umeda Sky Building, about a 15 minute walk from JR Osaka Station (which, in turn is 10 minutes from Shin-Osaka station) has without a doubt, an amazing view of Osaka and the Yodo river. Costs around 700 yen, and the elevator ride isn't for those scared of heights. It can be a little chilly up top in the evening, so take something warm if you're wanting to see the light show on offer.
