If you are around downtown, Nishiki Market is a nice shopping street to buy distinctive Kyoto food. Fish, meat, prepared dishes, sweets, tofu and more. A bit more expensive than regular supermarkets, but you will be surprised to see variety of food.

Also, just north of Nishiki market are loads of nice little shops with fashionable vintage clothings and a lot of other things too that are worth checking out!
