  The Hotel Monaco & Grand has its own water-taxi dock. This is critical! Most hotels, no matter how grand, require you to drag your luggage from the public dock to their front door. This is a bummer with all those steps over the small canals. Also, ask for the Monaco & Grand's sister establishment - Palazzo Selvadego. Your own little spot just off San Marco, and you can still use the main hotel's amenities.
