    Restaurant Gigetto al Portico d'Ottavia

I really like this restaurant in the heart of Rome, in the Jewish quarter. Food is superb and decent prices; very nice place to hang out and near Trastevere.

    Restaurant for meat lovers

If you love meat, you can't miss Er Baffo in Maccarese, on Via della Muratella. At first, it looks like a bar, then it looks like a butcher shop, then it's satellite tv madness, then it's a huge Fiorentina, that you can choose from the meat display, and "arrosticini" and all things meat. Er Baffo even has a website: www.erbaffo.com

This tip has the address "via della muratella, 627, maccarese"

    Taverna dei Fori Imperiali

I really love this restaurant Via della Madonna dei Monti. It's a family run place just a few steps from the forum and always works out as great value. Make sure you ask what the specials are as the chef Alessio always makes something wonderful out of the day's fresh produce.

For dinner, Antico Arco is an elegant and intimate restaurant perched up on the Gianicolo Hill which you can walk up from Trastevere if your'e feeling energetic and love views over Rome. It's all about the food here though, not the views, which is some of the best in Rome. Well cooked roman dishes and a good wine list. Although this is towards the top end, it's still half the price of London restaurants of this quality. Their Antipasti, 'Flan Cippola' (onion flan) is famous. Eat two! If you go in a group, they also have this great habit of bringing 'piccolo' (mini) dishes of everyone else's selections so everyone can try each dish. How cool is that!

Pizzale Aurelio 7, Gianicolo, Roma (by the Arch of San Pancranzo)

Check the link. It will cost you some 400 euro a week and it sleeps up to four people. You're on a dead end street (beautiful stairs actually) no noice, no stress. Yet you're in an apartment smack downtown, probably the most beautiful area of Rome

This is touted as the best coffee in Rome. I wouldn't know about that, but I can say the coffee is excellent, with the bar being frequented by both tourists and locals. It's also very reasonably priced, especially considering it's situated right by the Pantheon.

My favorite places in Rome are:

    - "Al grottino" : probably the best pizza (more tha 100 options), good roman dishes (cacio e pepe, carbonara, amatriciana, gricia, ecc...), fabulous dessert. Very affordable prices. www.algrottino.com

    - "Le ninfe" : creative and high level cuisine and very honest prices. http://www.2spaghi.it/ristoranti/lazio/rm/roma/ristorante-le-ninfe/

    - "said" : an old chocolate factory in San Lorenzo. A little bit expensive prices, but fantastic atmosfere and hot chocolate. Good cakes. If you want you could buy tea and chocolate in the shop at the entrance. www.said.it

To search restaurants on map, I advice the website: http://www.2spaghi.it/ristoranti/lazio/rm/roma/ Very useful, but only in italian.

Une trattoria sans prétention ostentatoire qui dispense une cuisine familiale d'excellente qualité. Des produits de grande qualité / fraîcheur pour une addition dérisoire (compter entre 12 et 15 euros / personne), que demande le peuple ?

We found "La Fraschetta" as a recommendation in our guidebook. If you're in Trastevere, go there. Incredible typical Italian restaurant. It's not very expensive, and food was great. The waiters are very friendly. Spaghetti all'amatriciana.... sooooooooo yummy!!

Ottima Pizzeria Gluten Free - Da provare la pizza "Ricotta e Pistacchi" e gli antipasti di formaggi di bufala. Meglio prenotare soprattutto per la pizza senza glutine.
