Visit a museum that's not crowded: Palazzo Medici Ricardi, go right up to the first floor, enter the tiny room which is the chapel of the Magi and look at the frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli. In the evening eat at the Cibreo (055-234-1100),best of Tuscan food with a huge list of Supertuscans (e.g. no less than 10 years of Caberlot). The chef d' will take a seat at your table to discuss your menu.

Central market for lunch

Go to the central market; OK it's full of stalls selling leather to the tourists, but behind them is the central market hall, full of great food shops, and some great cafes for a quick, cheap, authentic lunch.

I had world-class bistecca alla fiorentina at Buca Lapi (Via del Trebbio, 1r) while in Florence a few years back. When I return in a month or so I will be sure to go back.

family management,lovely cosy place ,not expensive

Posto pulito, bella atmosfera con tovaglie a quadretti da classica trattoria e foto in bianco e nero di vecchi divi del cinema appese alle pareti. Il cibo è ottimo, così come il vino, davvero ottimo. I camerieri sono simpatici e un po' matti.
